Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Credits.fm, a free music identifier search service operated by Notes Frequencies, Inc. ("Notes", "we", "us", "our"). By using Credits.fm, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Credits.fm is a free, public, read-only search tool. No account or subscription is required to use it.

Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time by updating this page. The "Last modified" date above reflects the most recent revision. Your continued use of Credits.fm after any change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

API access

Credits.fm provides a public API for looking up music identifiers. Unauthenticated requests are subject to rate limits. Developers may request an API key for elevated access; keys are issued at our discretion and may be revoked if these Terms are violated.

You agree not to use the API to build a competing bulk-download service, resell raw index data, or circumvent rate limits.

Data license and attribution

The music identifier data published by Credits.fm — ISRCs, ISWCs, IPIs, ISNIs, UPCs, songwriter names, and related metadata — is made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC-BY 4.0). You may freely use, share, and build upon this data provided you give appropriate credit to Credits.fm.

This data is aggregated from public sources including the MLC, MusicBrainz, CISAC, and ISNI.org, each of which carries its own upstream license. Credits.fm does not warrant the accuracy or completeness of any identifier data.

Intellectual property

The Credits.fm website, interface, branding, and software are owned by Notes Frequencies, Inc. and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. The CC-BY data license above does not extend to the site design, code, or branding. You may not reproduce or distribute these without our permission.

Prohibited uses

You agree not to use Credits.fm to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation
• Attempt to disable, overload, or impair the service
• Scrape or bulk-download data in a manner that degrades service for other users
• Circumvent rate limits or security measures
• Impersonate any person or entity
• Transmit any harmful, unlawful, or abusive content

We reserve the right to block access — including API key revocation and IP blocking — for any use we determine to be abusive or in violation of these Terms.

Disclaimers

Credits.fm and its content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any data is accurate or complete. Use of Credits.fm is at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Notes Frequencies, Inc. and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of Credits.fm or reliance on any data provided through it. Because Credits.fm is a free service, our aggregate liability to you shall not exceed $100.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved exclusively in the federal or state courts located in New York, New York, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts. Claims must be brought within one year of the event giving rise to the claim or they are permanently barred.
